Bristol artist James Ralph Morton uses oils to make large scale portraits, depicting the melancholic underbelly of society. Contrasting the bleakness with the hope of the downtrodden, these portraits take on an often ethereal quality, with various methods of paint application pushing and pulling different features to the forfront of the painting.

James has exhibited around the uk and done commissions further afield including Berlin, Sydney, Tallin, and New York.
